Newsletter news

As many of you know, I have written a weekly newsletter since the spring of 2015. It’s a small act of love, an act of care, I put out into the world.

The premise is simple: The world is filled with both ugliness and goodness, but ugliness knocks on your door, while goodness often requires you to look for it.

So each week, I search the internet and look for things that inspire me, that seem beautiful, that give me hope. It might be a long essay, or a cute Reel, or just an amazing photograph. So I find five of these things, and then I write a short introductory essay, and then I send it out.

And I’ve done this for more than 11 years now.

People like it. I have high open rates, people respond to my emails, and they send me links they think should be in the next issue.

But algorithms are weird, and all the time I get folks who tell me they don’t know it exists. So, it does. You can subscribe here.

I’m also reworking the newsletter website, and going forward will be posting that week’s introductory essay on the site, with a link to the web version of the whole newsletter. That way, if you are a WordPress app user, or an RSS user, you have another way to be notified.
